Raktamokshana is a type of panchkarma. It is the process of elimination of vitiated dosha that accumulates in the body. Subconjunctival haemorrhage is a small blood vessel within the conjunctiva may break spontaneously causing a red area on the sclera. Blood gets trapped underneath the conjunctiva due to late absorption of haemorrhage. It can be correlated with Arjuna. Arjuna is one of the shukalagata and RaktadoshaPradhanvyadhi. Where the symptoms include shashrudhiropastmabindu or shakragopnibham red spot by patch on conjunctiva. It is produced due to vitiation of raktadosha.In our samhita there is no direct reference available regarding the symptoms of subconjunctival haemorrhage but by studying Sushrut samhita and Vaghbhat samitha the sign and symptoms and etiology of Arjuna netra roga correlated with subconjunctival haemorrhage. According to acharyaShusrut and VaghbataArjuna can be treated with Raktamokshana and treatment like as Pitaabhishanda and Raktaabhishanda. In modern sciences, SCH can be treated with astringent eye drops to cure irritation. In Ayurveda shodhanakarma is necessary for permanent cure to the disease. Raktamokshan is best procedure of shodhanakarma which is indicated for DushitaRakta. Raktamokshanatheraphy cure the Arjuna within few days. So, the present case has been treated with leech therapy where leech was applied upon the apangmarma. In the present study remarkable results were observed with improvement in all the signs and symptoms of the disease.It is good and cost effective approach totreat Arjuna with Rakatamokshana.
