Fibroadenoma breast: Newer conservative management methods using Kanchnar guggul.

Introduction: Fibroadenomas of the breast are one of the most common cause of fear and anxiety in a young woman and till date there is no as such effective method to conservatively treat it hence this study was done to study the clinical efficacy of Kanchnar Guggul in management of fibroadenomas of the breast. Method: A total of 60 female patients having fibroadenomas presenting in the OPD of general surgery in a tertiary medical college in central India were studied. Kanchnar guggul a herbal medicine was administered orally in a dose of 1gm (2 tablet of 500 mg each) 2 times a day with luke warm water after meal for a duration of 90 days. Decrease in size of lump was noted periodically. Results: Lumps below 10 mm showed maximum decrease in size i.e. 100 percentage, while lumps which were in the range of 10 mm-12 mm, 12 mm-23 mm showed a very good regression of about 90 percentage and 80 percentage respectively. Conclusion: Kanchnar Guggulcan be used as an effective conservative management option to treat fibroadenoma Breast.
