Study on Efficacy of Standard Treatment Protocol of Amavata Rheumatoid arthritis

Amavata is a disease caused due to vitiation of vata along with accumulation of Ama in joints. In modern science it is correlated with Rheumatoid arthritis. The symptoms produced include stiffness, swelling and tenderness in small and big joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder which has significant resemblance with Amavata. Various researches has been done on Amavata but they has not found to be more effective in management of Amavata. In modern science this disease is managed by drugs like NSAID, Steroids, DMRD’S, and immune suppressants. All this medicines are having their own side effects on body. Therefore we have design the present study in which the treatment principal of Amavata is used. This present study was conducted on 30 patients to study the effect of treatment principle of Amavata in which Vruddhadarukadichurna 3gm is given to patient in TDS dose for 15 days, Erandataila 10 ml for 8 days with Lukewarm water,Valukapottalisweda 5-15 min twice a day for 15 days, Laghuahara(as per provided food chart) for 15 days. The patients were investigated for RA, CRP, ESR, CBC before treatment and ESR only is investigated after treatment for evaluation.
