An Evaluation and Comparison of Needlestick and Sharps Injuries to Students in Different Healthcare Sciences Departments

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of occupational needlestick and sharps injuries in students in different departments of the Health Sciences Faculty, and to determine and compare the reasons for these injuries.
Methods: This study is cross sectional type. Total of 840 (1st year students were not included) registered university students were identified and it was planned to contact all the students without selective sampling.
Results: A total of 649 students voluntarily participated in the study. While injuries are seen more often in the departments (such as; nursing, midwifery, anesthesia) applying medical treatment.
